The Power Of Transformative Journaling: How Daily Journaling Changed My Life

When I look at my life today, I am constantly amazed. Everything I have ever wanted is unfolding in the most unexpected ways, far better than I could have imagined. For as long as I can remember, I have spent most of my time dreaming day and night about my future. Once I understood the magic of journaling, a practice that allowed me to articulate my thoughts, feelings, and dreams, I took those visions and put them down on paper. From childhood to now, I have spent my entire life creating and recreating my reality through this powerful tool of self-reflection and manifestation.

My transformative writing journey began fourteen years ago. I had reached a point in my life where everything I thought I knew and what I believed came into question. That was a terrifying place to be for someone who was pretty sure of herself. I found myself in a deep depression, a place of profound sadness and hopelessness that I never thought I would experience. When the shadows of my past confronted me again, I had nowhere to run this time. But before we get into that, allow me to introduce myself.

Hey, I’m Renata, a creative entrepreneur.

I was fortunate to find my passion and purpose at the tender age of seven. I fell in love with the art of storytelling. Even at that age, I felt a sense of purpose when writing. I remember watching the expressions of others as they read or heard my words and feeling like I was doing something good for humanity. Storytelling and writing became my superpower. It made people see me as more than just the quiet, shy girl in the front row. I knew then that this was what I wanted to do with my life.

I created a plan for myself: I would go to college, major in Creative Writing, minor in Theatre, and have a successful career as a playwright and screenwriter. Unfortunately, that dream never came true. By the end of 2010, my dream had become a nightmare. I did attend college but didn’t get the chance to complete my degree. I flunked out my Junior year because I lost sight of my vision and began to follow someone else’s dream, a path that seemed more secure and acceptable to others. I spent that entire decade chasing that goal and had nothing to show for it but past-due bills and a mountain of debt. I had to face myself and confront the limiting beliefs and doubts that had lingered for a long time.

Like everyone who’s walked this earth, I’ve had my fair share of hurts and disappointments. The greatest gift that journaling gave me is turning many of those traumas and disappointments into great stories. Expressing myself through writing became therapeutic, a comforting balm for my soul, and a beacon of hope in the darkest times.

By reflecting on my thoughts and feelings, I was able to heal some deep emotional wounds and make peace with my past. This process of self-reflection, facilitated by journaling, became a powerful tool in my healing journey, empowering me to take control of my emotional well-being and shape my future. Journaling became a massive part of my daily life.

If you’re looking for inner peace or just enjoy writing, try journaling.
